Murray Lady Tiger Soccer Head to All "A" Classic

The Murray High Lady Ttiger Soccer Team will head to Frankfort, KY this afternoon for the 2011 version of the All "A" Classic.  It is the fourth year in a roll the Lady Tigers have made the trip having earned it with a 7-1 victory over University Heights Academy on September 3rd in Hopkinsville, KY.

The Lady Tigers carry a 11-0-1 record into the first around and currently set ranked #5 in the Kentucky High School Coaches Girls Soccer Association most recent poll.  Their first round opponent, St. Henry District is also ranked #7 in the most recent KHSCGSA poll.  St. Henry brings a record of 8-3-0 into the contest having faced a very difficult schedule through the first half of this year's season.  Coach Mickey McCuiston of the Lady Tigers says, "the Crusaders from St. Henry will be a tough opponent and we will need to play well to come out the victor.  However, our team is very talented and play defense and offense well, so my expectation is to bring home the trophy".

Murray is also currently the most explosive team in the state leading Kentucky girls soccer with 73 goals through 12 games while only surrendering 7.  Megg Hudson, Jaclin Patterson and Lyssie Wright are all in the top 15 in the state in scoring and assists.  Senior captain Victoria Verburg anchors the states #2 ranked defense with help from her starting back line of Lindey Hunt, MacKenzie Downey and Alyson Mathis and goalkeeper Haley Stewart. This weekend will mark the return of  former defensive standout Kayla Verburg who has been out for two weeks for medical reasons.

The game will be played at Sower Field in Frankfort, KY a 1PM EST.t
